For proper functioning of vehicle, it is essential to take care of it. There are certain precautions to be taken which can prevent any serious trouble, before they happen. There are two types of maintenance of vehicles:
Breakdown maintenance – It is the servicing and repairing of the vehicle, after they are unable to function well.
Preventive maintenance – Periodical check of the vehicle and its parts is required so that the breakdown of the vehicle can be avoided. A maintenance book is provided by the manufacturer along with every vehicle.
Periodic maintenance: The periodic maintenance can be carried out daily, weekly, monthly or after running the vehicle for several thousand kilometers.
Daily maintenance:

Checking the quantity of fuel in fuel tank

The inflation of tires

Proper working of brakes
Weekly and monthly maintenance: We need to check the following

Tire air pressure

Brake fluid level in master cylinder

Level of coolant in radiator

Engine oil level

Battery is working properly

Fluid level in windshield washer

Power steering fluid level
Volatile liquids like acetone or thinner should be used for interior cleaning of vehicle. The exterior of vehicle should be washed at least once a week, with cold or warm water. Clean the vehicle thoroughly after washing. Wiper blades should be inspected regularly and should be replaced, if damaged. The damaged wiper blades can cause scratches on glass.
The engine oil should be changed after every 10,000 kilometers or 6 months, whichever comes earlier.
