It is a type of solid fuel Injection system in which fuel is injected through a mechanically controlled valve. The fuel is supplied to the engine as per the speed and load.
A single pump is required for a multi-cylinder engine.
The fuel from fuel tank is supplied to the common tube called ‘Rail’.
A high pressure pump is used to supply the fuel to Rail. High pressure breaks down the fuel into small particles.
Fuel from common tube is supplied to the injectors, which led the fuel to the engine cylinder.
A spring controlled high pressure relief valve is used to keep the system pressure constant. The valve returns the excess fuel of the Rail to the fuel tank.
